Ice Wars Tournament
Ice Wars is a distinctive event designed to honor and pay tribute to the men and women of our military, both past and present.
Since its inception in 2020, the event has experienced tremendous success. Due to high demand and limited capacity, many participants were unfortunately turned away during previous years.
To better accommodate interest and expand participation, the tournament will now be divided across two weekends: one for Mite and Squirt levels, and another for Peewee and Bantam levels. This adjustment allows us to increase the number of teams at each level from four to six, providing more opportunities for athletes to take part in this meaningful event.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
3-Game Guarantee Schedule:
The typical tournament format includes one game on Friday afternoon or evening, followed by either two games on Saturday or one game on Saturday and one on Sunday during pool play.
All Championship games will be held on Sunday, with completion typically around 4:30 PM.
Scoring:
A team that wins a game will receive 2 points.
A team that loses will receive 0 points.
In the event of a tie, each team will receive 1 point.
Teams with the highest point totals will advance to the Championship game, which will be the fourth game of the weekend.
Tie-Breaking Procedures:
Tie-breakers will be determined in the following order:
Goal differential (capped at a maximum of 5 goals)
Penalty minutes
Coin flip
Timeouts:
Timeouts will not be permitted during pool play (the first three games). Each team will be allowed one timeout during the Championship game only.
Overtime Rules:
Overtime will consist of a five-minute, 4-on-4 sudden death period, followed by a four-player shootout if necessary.
Overtime will be played exclusively during Championship games. No overtime will be conducted during pool play.
REGISTRATION INFO
Registration Information:
Participants must register individually. Team selections will be determined based on the information provided in the registration form. It is essential that all responses are accurate and complete, as this ensures our ability to create teams that are as balanced and competitive as possible.
Schedule:
Games will begin on Friday evening of each tournament weekend, with start times typically around 4:00 PM.
Special Requests:
We will make every effort to accommodate requests for a player to be placed on a specific team in recognition of a family member who is currently serving or has served in a particular branch of the military. All such requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Our team selection format is designed to provide participants with a positive and inclusive experience, including the opportunity to meet and play alongside new teammates in a supportive environment.

9 Forwards (all skill levels)
6 Defensemen (all skill levels)
2 Goaltenders (AAA, AA, A, or B levels only)

Do I sign up a team?
No this an individual registration event.
Can my player be on the same team as friends?
It's possible. The entire reason behind this event is to assist with stress and tryout jitters in the future. This event will allow your player to know what it is like to be on a team with maybe no person they know. So when it comes time for a tryout for a AAA team or something bigger, they know what it feels like and hopefully have less stress related to the process.
Can my kids at the same age level be one the same team to help with travel?
Absolutely
Do we have to show up for evaluation night?
For the process to work as we intend, we ask that every attempt be make to make the evaluation time. With the school yard pick process, our goal is to have the teams as equal as possible.
Can I register my C level Goalie?
In prior years we have had teams that have been almost identical in skill level. When a lower skill level goalie is on a team it is very hard to keep the teams competitive. Our goal is to never turn anyone away if we have a spot, however it is equally important that in a event such as this our goalies are skilled and do not create an obvious weakness on the ice.
Do we get a really awesome custom team jersey to keep?

If we need to cancel, will we get a refund?
YES - If you for any reason need to cancel, you will get a full refund if you cancel prior to 21 days of the event. If you cancel within the 21 days, you will get a full refund, MINUS $71 the cost of the jersey.
